FAQ

+ Where do lessons take place?

  • Hong Kong: I teach at my home in Tuen Mun.

For directions and inquiries, please contact me here.

+ Can you come to my home and teach?

Absolutely, but please be reminded that home visits slots are limited and may not always be available, since commute times often mean that I can only visit a single household in an afternoon.

+ Which languages do you speak?

  • Cantonese: Fluent
  • English: Fluent
  • Mandarin: I can understand it. Speaking it not so much.
  • German: Work in progress (lol).

+ What abilities and age range do you teach?

I teach all ages and abilities ranging from complete beginner to advanced and beyond. However, I recommend the students be at least 7 or 8 years old, so they can understand what I am asking them to do.

+ Which subjects do you teach?

I give piano lessons with a special emphasis on Classical music, but I am also happy to teach whatever the student decides to bring to the lesson. I also teach music theory, help my students with their compositions, or if they are teachers themselves, help them improve their teaching and develop their careers.

+ How would you describe your teaching?

The central message I want all my students to take away is that when passion meets planning, when all details are patiently observed and the right steps taken, all difficulties can be overcome. The formula to success isn't limited to music; it is a universal principle that will make you successful in whatever you want to do in the future.

+ How much do you charge for lessons?

That depends if you are looking for regular weekly lessons, or more flexible Pay-As-You-Go lessons.

You can find the different rates here.

+ Which payment methods do you accept?

  • Lessons: Cash, Payme and FPS
  • Online services and products: Credit and debit cards

You can find more information here.

+ Why do you charge for lessons at the start of each month?

Music teachers need a contract to ensure that they cover their expenses. Some opted to have yearly contracts, while others book lessons in blocks of 10. Charging monthly is my way of finding balance between job security and maximum flexibility for my students.

+ Why are there different rates for lessons?

I offer lessons at a discounted rate for students that attend every week. Having weekly lessons is both good for the teacher and for the student, as students that have weekly lessons in my experience always outperform those that do not. As a teacher I want to provide both flexibility for those that cannot commit, and incentive in the form of discounts for those who wish to improve quicker by having weekly lessons.

+ What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance are eligible for reschedule within the month, or as a credit next month. Cancellations made without 48 hours' notice may be eligible for reschedule at my discretion if there are exceptional circumstances (accident, bereavement etc...)
